I Love The Real Housewives - Beverly Hills Lost Footage

By Lisa New England

Hello everyone and thanks for dropping by. I wasn't going to blog the Lost Footage episode initially, but after watching it, I figured I'd offer a few more thoughts on the season.

Whether you like Camille or not, if you don't feel some amount of sympathy for this woman you must be completely emotionless. The scene with Camille sitting with Kelsey was bazaar. She says that she misses him and he says "thanks." You'd think as an actor he could have pulled it off a little bit better than that. Watching her stand in front of the fountain was a saddening sight to say the least. It was full of irony. A gorgeous fountain, a lovely woman, yet she stood there in despair. I found it to be a very dramatic ending.

I'm curious as to why Bravo didn't originally include the scene of Camille and Dedra on the beach. Here is what I think. Bravo had to have a villain. This scene would have humanized her too much to many people. Sure, show it now. Maybe it gives her a little redemption to some people but no where near the impact it would have had on her "character" during the season.

Bravo is great at painting the picture they want us to see. The character to be loved and the character to be loathed. It makes for good TV. I know Andy Cohen always says "don't blame the editing." Perhaps you can't for certain things, but on many levels our perception of these ladies is completely dictated by the editing. We wouldn't talk about the shows as much if they made all of these ladies come off so nice and likable to everyone. What would there be to blog about or talk about around the water cooler and around the web? I think most of us realize that we are just seeing glimpses of the lives of these women, not the whole of them. I do think some fans take it too seriously, far beyond the realms of entertainment. They judge and scrutinize these women extremely harshly. On one hand, yes, these women have opened up their lives to this by being on the show. But I think much of the chatter goes well beyond levels of decency. Such was the case with Camille for most of the season. Yet as it turns out, she's really not what she was originally painted to be. But as always, that's just my opinion. I'd love to know what you think about this.

Off of my soapbox and back to the show, I absolutely loved how Kyle reacted to that weird woman hanging on her husband. He clearly looked uncomfortable and was trying to figure out a way to politely get her off of him. It was such a primal, protective reaction Kyle had. The fact that nobody knew who in the heck this woman was is concerning. Did she just throw on some white clothes and go cruising for a white party? Very weird.

There was a scene that I saw floating around the Internet that I had assumed was going to be in the Lost Footage, but wasn't. The scene was of Andy asking Adrienne whether or not she was the Godmother of Taylor's daughter. Taylor had said that she was. It also had a snippet about the length of time Adrienne has known Taylor. Taylor stated that she had known Adrienne for a long time. Adrienne responded that she loves Kennedy but she was not her Godmother and that she has known Taylor for three years. Now I know a lot of you are probably saying liar liar pants of fire about Taylor. Many of you aren't fond of Taylor. That's your prerogative. But here's my take. To me, three years is a fairly long time. To some people a long time is ten years. It doesn't make Taylor a liar. On the subject of Adrienne being the Godmother, I think Taylor wants her to be and Adrienne doesn't want it to be "official." Maybe in Taylor's mind it doesn't matter whether it's "official" or not. She trusts Adrienne with the welfare of Kennedy should something ever happen to her and Russell. In my own life I have a close friend who has a child and she refers to me as his Godmother, but there has never been any official ceremony. I don't think Taylor said this with malicious intent of misrepresentation.

The real star of the last nights show? The ever precious Giggy! I could be having the worst day ever and when I see this dog I smile. I wave at the TV to him like a total idiot. My boyfriend thinks I'm nuts. I can't help it. I don't want to help it either. In life anything that puts a smile on my face like he does is worth acting a little silly over. I find Lisa and Ken's love and devotion to this dog to be one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Many people would have put him down as the breeder suggested. Let's tell it like it is. This breeder didn't really care whether Giggy was suffering or not. This breeder only cared about having a genetic defect in their breeding line. If this is known, the worth of the line decreases. I've known of several breeders who have felt this way about health problems and have put dogs to sleep because of it. Let me emphasize, most breeders would never do this, but some do without a second thought. I think it's a very sad practice and I am happy to see that Lisa and Ken did not give into the breeders advice. Now the Gigster is one of the most famous dogs in America! Woofie!

I'm sad that Beverly Hills is now officially over, other than the director's cut of the "Dinner Party From Hell" airing next Tuesday. Other than that, we have the Atlanta reunion then onto OC and Miami. Keep watching my blog as I have new Housewife interviews coming very soon, as well as an advice column by a very wise lady! Any guesses?

Everyone has been talking about Bravo delaying the Real Housewives Of New York premiere. I don't know what the heck happened with it being so abruptly postponed but I certainly had a huge Housewives letdown!

Until next blog, best to all of you. I look forward to your take on things. Please comment.

Another great blog Lisa.

As for Camille, yes I felt terrible for her as Kellsey treated her like she didn't exist. He was as cold as ice -- no compassion at all. My guess that Kellsey fell out of love with Camille a long time ago and treated her in this cold manner for a while, which might explain some of her less than attractive and insecure behavior on the show. On the other hand, it takes two to tango and you don't know what it was like to be married to Camille. She certainly is easy on the eyes (I think she's beautiful) but I don't know how nice and supportive she really is).

I do believe that editing plays a big part in how the housewives come across and that then producers are apt to show viewers the less attractive and more confrontational clips of a housewife. No one would watch a show with perfect surgary sweet housewives. Drama and conflict drive viewership, just as most people can't help but look at a car wreck. Camille definitely came off poorly in this first season. But if she were smart about it, she would do what my fav housewife Jill Zarin did after a season where the edits were not at all kind to her -- get back on the horse and come back for another season.

As for Giggy, he is such a beautiful dog. I was appalled that the breeder wanted to kill him because he has itchy skin. How monstrous. Don we murder people with psoriasis because they have itchy skin and suffer??? Sometimes, people's cruelty toward animals is astonishing. Giggy is just wonderful as a his parents Lisa and Ken -- two of all my all time favorite RH cast members.

I still do not care for Taylor. She just does not seem genuine or real to me. I did adore the scene where Kyle put the smack down in that disgusting woman hanging on her husband who clearly wanted to be rescued.

All in all, I really enjoyed then lost footage episode, especially all the footage of Giggy. I can never get enough Giggy.

Hmm, an advice column by a very wise lady?? Since you have invited guesses, I am guessing that it is Jill Zarin's mother -- about as wise a person as any who have appeared on the RH.

I must agree on the editing part But as Adrienne said in many interviews they do not edit what you say. Im team Camille at first I wasn't but come on after all Kelsey did to her. I mean Camille would be a good friend to have in your corner granted I'd have to carry a dictionary with me but she seems real and sweet.

And as for the Adrienne clip I was upset they didn't air that on the show but it was a web exclusive. On the clip Adrienne said she wasn't Kennedy's good mother that she wasn't really that close to Taylor. And she wasn't in the place to be her godmother and I must say her facial expressions and eyes said it all. Adrienne looked PO and upset she looked like she wanted to run across the room and take Taylor out. And in many of the pics and interviews with them together she dosn't seem to have that click with Taylor anymore that she use to.

And I love Lisa and Giggy hope him all the best hope they find him meds to help soon hes to cute for words. I love seeing him on the show. But for sure Adrienne and Paul need a spin off to funny for words I could watch that all day.
