I Love The Real Housewives of New York Episode 5

57

By Lisa New England

I was so relieved that Jill Zarin was back tonight. I said it before and I truly mean it, the show lacks without her. Whether you like her or not she is an intricate part of the New York cast. Her personality helps define the show in my opinion and gives it the New York feel. To me she is near, if not at the top of as Sonja stated, the "pecking order". In the opening scene Jill even winced when Quoque was mentioned. What is it about this town? Would us mere peasants like it? I hope Cindy made a note to never do anything in that town again after all the complaining she's heard about it. I was a little apprehensive about watching tonight's episode knowing from the previews that Jill and Alex have a meeting. I just wasn't sure how that would go. Although I know there was probably quite a bit of the conversation edited out, it seemed to go fairly well on the surface. I still think Alex has a different set of forgiveness requirements for everyone and is a very agenda oriented person. Whatever keeps her on a TV show right?

I thought Ramona seemed somewhat genuine in her apology to Kelly. Please note she did not seem to have her liquid courage loaded up yet. Then in the interview segment she refers negatively to Kelly's mental health by referring to her having a breakdown again. Ramona is not a psychiatrist! There are many things that could be said about her mental health, but I will refrain from comments since I am not a shrink. The only thing I can comment on is the amount of booze she's ingesting. Did anyone notice the immense size of the wine glasses at her jewelry party? They were bigger than Allison Dubois at the Beverly Hills dinner party. LuAnn said she'd have a glass of wine and Ramona poured in half a bottle!

Let's talk about the jewelry party. I do think it's a good idea Ramona has. Although I think the prices might be a little to high for "regular" people in today's economy. Ramona should have known that the Countess would akin it to a Mary Kay party. Does the Countess seem like a Mary Kay party type of lady? No offense to Mary Kay, but no, she doesn't. Did anyone notice LuAnn's necklace? It was a butterfly, in case you didn't know! I like big necklaces but this was the size of Mothra! It kind of reminded me of the Silence of the Lambs movie logo. Picture LuAnn saying "It takes the Pinot and pours it in the glass".

Ramona's lunch with Cindy at the Four Seasons was probably one of the most uncomfortable scenes I've ever watched on Housewives. Ramona clearly did not want to be there. Who did she keep looking at? A producer maybe? This on and on "No Pinot at the Party" drama is ridiculous. I'm just a regular person so maybe I don't get it. Is this what's important to the wealthy? I understand Ramona likes her Pinot but did she ever consider instead of drinking an alcoholic beverage she does not care for just having a Coke? I don't like how Ramona constantly has to define herself by the length of her marriage. She's constantly stating it as if it makes her special. It was clear that she said it to Cindy to be mean. Like "I'm married and you're not". This coming from a woman who uses the term "mean girl" to describe others way to much. It's really the pot calling the kettle black.

What was up with Sonja's outfit at the ball game? It was like a Wonder Woman joins the Roller Derby. "What we learned today" is that Sonja seems to have two very different sides of her. The snobby socialite with a pecking order and a house man side and the party girl side. It's a little conflicted to me. I'm no socialite, but we do have them in Boston as well and the ones I know of would never be caught dead dressed like that anywhere!
